Columbus Day 2008 (107 Photos)

In Italian-American heritage, Columbus Day is a special holiday and time when we stop to reflect upon the many accomplishments of the great Italian navigator Christopher Columbus. It's pretty safe to say that without his determination and leadership, none of us would be here today! Thanks to Brother Bernie Galante for the great photos you see below.

While being a Federal Holiday, Italian-Americans across the country see this day as a great one to celebrate the many accomplishments and gifts that Italians have given to the world. Along with Columbus, we also celebrate other great Italians such as Amerigo Vespucci, Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, and many others. Without their ingenuity, talent and foresight, many of the comforts we enjoy today wouldn't be possible.  On this Columbus Day, the members of Roma Lodge No. 254 celebrated with food, dance and song - like any good Italian-American would!
